Uma played the role of Poison Ivy in the movie Batman & Robin where she received mixed reviews on her performance in the campy film and it was considered as one of the largest critical flops in history. With a string of bad movies that came her way, Uma decided to take a break from Hollywood in 1998 and it took her five long years before she came back into the Hollywood spotlight and it was in 2003 that she made two major films, John Woo’s Paycheck and Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. Paycheck was only moderately successful with critics and at the box office, but Kill Bill greatly revived and relaunched her career in Hollywood. She played the role of female assassin Beatrix Kiddo out for revenge against her former lover. The two-part action epic became an instant cult classic and scored highly with critics earning her Golden Globe nominations for both entries and three MTV Movie Awards for Best Female Performance and twice for Best Fight.
